E-Terra is known for developing and implementing powerful, flexible and easy-to-use applications.

E-Terra has delivered solid applications that speak for themselves. Below is a list of demonstrations of our work.

All of these sites are now running on MapGuide Server 6.5. Based on a powerful but thin client ActiveX control, this technology allows intuitive and rapid access to a wide variety of map interaction tools.

Please download the Autodesk MapGuide Viewer prior to using the links to the live demo sites.

E-Terra Demo server is being updated and reconfigured, Please check back soon or call for assistance!

Alaska Aviation Safety Project

The Alaska Aviation Safety Project (AASP) is a cooperative effort between E-Terra, NASA, the State of Alaska, and many other stakeholders to build innovative remote sensing based aviation safety solutions. With technologies ranging from advanced terrain management solutions to 3D animations, interactive mapping products, and real-to-life aviation navigation training applications, the AASP has been able to offer extensive value to the General Aviation (GA) and Scheduled Flight operators around Alaska. The map portal segment of AASP research focuses on compiling aviation safety related textual, graphical and spatial information, integrating these products with remote sensing data for context. This data is then published as an aggregate web solution to offer an intuitive method for pilots to study and retain the information before attempting to fly a new path.

This project is ongoing and is host to a wide variety of visualization, video, data processing, and custom application development products. The demonstration link above introduces the project, but for more complete details on this exciting intersection between traditional mapping and intuitive training platforms, please call our offices at 907-562-1500. To review the visualization samples associated with this project, please see the 'Products' tab of the application; the map interface requires a login that may be requested when one clicks on the 'Map' tab on the AASP portal site.

Development tools: Microsoft .NET 3.5, SQL Server 2005, Autodesk MapGuide and JavaScript.

Alaska Railroad

The Alaska Railroad Mapguide portal serves as a central site for railroad infrastructure and operations awareness. Presenting live locomotive GPS positions, track hardware attributes, contextual basemap layers, and the latest linear referenced track alignment, this application is an excellent example of how positional display greatly enhances one's ability to quickly understand a situation. Special functions include:

  • Realtime Logistics / Tracking
  • Event Driven Operational Reporting
  • Segment Level Revision Control
  • Open-Platform Dynamic Segmentation Model
  • Linear Reference (milepost) Zoom and Info-tool
  • Map-State Save, Share, and Recall
Development tools: Microsoft .NET 2.0, SQL Server 2005, Autodesk MapGuide and JavaScript.

Golden Valley Electric Association

E-Terra has developed a web-based GIS system for Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA). GVEA is a medium-sized electric utility that services a large portion of the interior of Alaska. In addition to developing a web-based GIS system for GVEA, E-Terra is working with Golden Valley Electric Association them to assist them in moving from a manual, hand drafting System Map environment into the digital age. Develoment tools:Macromedia's ColdFusion, Autodesk MapGuide, JavaScript, Autodesk Map

Matanuska Telephone Association

The Matanuska Telephone Association (MTA) Mapguide / Autodesk Map solution demonstrates E-Terra's expertise in utility infrastructure management systems. At MTA, there are three primary consumers of infrastructure and basemap data. The design and engineering teams work together to build and maintain the basemap layers (parcels, roads, power poles, etc.) and the infrastructure layers (telephone poles, pedestals, circuits and anchors, etc.), the field crews use a snapshot of this data to complete call-outs, maintenance requests, and installs, while the administrative offices are interested in infrastructure reports and spatial analysis.

Engineering and design teams take advantage of E-Terra's custom developed Autodesk Map automation tools to document and track circuit status and spatial layout information in a combination of graphical and tabular data products. These maps then flow to the field crews using a special interface that E-Terra designed for off-site map viewing based on DWF technologies. Lastly, the maps are automatically published to a live Mapguide application that provides the MTA administration with realtime web access to infrastructure, basemap, and database information from an intuitive search and reporting interface.

Port of Seattle MapGuide Site

The spatial data is assembled from a combination of ArcView Shape files and ArcInfo Coverages obtained from King County and Washington Department of Natural Resources with Port of Seattle information from AutoCAD drawing files overlaying this basemap data.
Development tools: Macromedia's ColdFusion, Autodesk MapGuide, JavaScript, Space Imaging Satellite Imagery

Seattle Public Utilities MapGuide Site

E-Terra provide Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) a proof of concept application that would integrate all of their GIS and design data into one web-based application available to all users throughout the organization. E-Terra, utilizing Autodesk MapGuide, examined and processed all available SPU GIS and other spatial data into this application.

Secure Asset Reporting System

E-Terra developed the Secure Asset Reporting Service (SARS) that currently provides web based asset tracking of vehicles, ships, and airplanes to customers in various parts of the world. The SARS system displays current and historical position and other data on user definable maps on multiple terminals via internet explorer version 5 or better. The system is an open architecture design that allows for the use of all industry standard spatial data and open support of any public or private communication infrastructure. Through this system user are capable of displaying planned track, temperatures, pressures, equipment status, equipment datametrics such as engine RPM and engine hours, presence of chemical substances for spill detection etc.

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport

The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (TSAIA) project is an excellent example of the power of Mapguide to extend the value of facility management design drawings. The primary economic driver for this application is the leasing department's need to be able to make visual exhibits of potential lease agreements, remodel projects, and operational activities. Before the Mapguide solution was devised, TSAIA Engineering staff had to use AutoCAD Map to draw a series of hypothetical lease arrangements every time a Leasing resource wanted to explore a change in space usage. This process was slow, prone to error, and resource intensive.

By leveraging an advanced set of custom markup tools, E-Terra was able to give the Leasing group direct access to the latest authorized building layout drawings and could then mark them up with annotations and lease title block information. When the agreement is finalized, this exhibit goes into the lease package with a CC to Engineering in order to get the basemap updated. Behind the scenes, this application uses object level revision control and a progressive authorization and data release process to ensure that the appropriate datasets are authorized and presented for each potential consumer. The demonstration site is available for personal demonstrations only, due to the sensitive nature of the data it contains; if you would like a demonstration of this facilities management solution, please call our marketing team at 907-562-1500.

Development tools: Microsoft .NET 1.1, SQL Server 2000, Autodesk MapGuide, Autodesk Map 3D and JavaScript.
